Assignment 1: A Single Rose

She saw the Eiffel Tower in the background and realized she must be in Champs Les Sims. It was strange, she didn’t remember traveling abroad.  She felt groggy as she looked around. There she was sitting at this adorable little French café. She realized she was watching herself; like watching a TV show where she was the star. She was sitting at the table with a gentleman and she looked happy.
She couldn’t recognize the man from behind. He was well dressed, average build with light colored hair.  She tried to grasp the surroundings; there was a beautiful fountain in the back ground. She realized they were talking because she could see their lips moving. She heard her likeness talking and realized they even sounded alike.  She was telling the man how happy she was, and how much her life had changed. The man had a deep, yet soft voice and was telling her how happy he was with her.
Even though she could not see much of the man, she knew it wasn’t Joseph. Joseph had long dark hair, which he would never dye, and he had a lanky figure. Her friends always found it entertaining that her boyfriend could wear her clothes. Suddenly, the whole scene got hazy, and this simbot started charging towards her. The simbot started calling her name, “Maria”.  She was frightened and tried to move away, but she felt stuck. It got even stranger when the simbot, suddenly had Joseph’s head.
Her eyes suddenly popped opened, she was sitting in her chair in her own apartment. Joseph was standing above her, “I’m so glad you’re awake. I thought you were going to sleep through the show,” he said, “I can’t believe you aren’t ready yet, curtains go up in half an hour, we’ve got to go. I was downstairs ringing you for the past twenty minutes. I finally had to come upstairs…..” Maria was trying to remember the dream she had. She remembered feeling so happy, something she hadn’t felt in quite awhile, but all she could remember was something about a simbot. It just didn’t make any sense. She shook her head and tried to snap out of it. She had not heard much of what Joseph was saying, but she saw the time in her clock and realized she must have dozed off.
She ran into the bathroom to set her hair and apply a layer of makeup. She put on a nice dress and found one heel while hopping over to throw on some jewelry, finding the other shoe. Maria stopped to look into a mirror. She was impressed how put together she looked after only a few minutes. She caught a glimpse of her bed in the mirror and longed for it. It been a long time since she got a full nights rest, but she put that thought in the back of her mind and ran downstairs to meet up with Joseph.
They watched a production of “A Magnetic Attraction.” Besides the fact it was a little trashy, Maria fell in love with the story.  The female protagonist fell in love with a man who wasn’t her fiancé. There was so much passion and romance. By the end, Maria was hoping the actress would choose the new man who they only portrayed in the shadows, never showing his appearance to the audience.  Maria was so excited when she chose to leave her fiancé; she was on the edge of her seat during the last scene as they finally brought the mystery man out of the shadows to reveal he was a simbot, explaining the irony in the title.
After the play, Maria found it hard to listen to Joseph. He was a theater buff and wanted to tell her about all the technical aspects of the production. He just liked to hear himself talk. She usually found his quirks cute, but tonight she kept thinking about her dream. She was trying to remember, but still all she could think of was a simbot and that just didn’t make any sense. When Joesph dropped her off, he offered to walk her upstairs, but Maria respectfully declined. Her mind was in a different place and she was looking forward to finally getting some rest.
Maria couldn’t place it, but she knew something didn’t feel right about her apartment. She shrugged it off and went straight into the bathroom to take her makeup off and get ready for bed. She entered her bedroom to put on pajamas and hop into bed. That’s when she saw it: a single pink rose on her pillow. She was with Joseph all night; how did he get it there? She fell asleep thinking about the rose.
